Obsession - Back to the drawing board

Post it what?

Okay, so after testing out my post it idea last night I saw that it didn't hold as much potential that I thought it would. So i'm back to my travel idea. My idea now is to take 20+ images of one thing, such as a street sign, but take photos from different distances. After I had taken the photos, i would print them out and stick them all together to make a full image. I would stick this on a wall or a piece of paper if small enough. However, I also got the idea to do a 360 view of a street which is important to me. Like my street or my boyfriends. I would do separate pieces of just the houses, street signs and bus stops also so i have a range of samples. To make the 360 view I would need a room or I'd have to make a circular wall to stick them all on. Hummm. I need to figure out how I make that.

I've already started to take photos of my bag, which will just be a sample, but i will print the images of and stick them together to make my first sample. I shall upload it when its finished.

This website is all about a group of people who set up scenes for a google map camera to see. It doesn't really fit in with my idea but i came across it and I think its really clever and funny. Check out the website and all the images!

Obsession - Idea Re-Think

So many ideas, so little time

Right, i've now started to come up with a lot of ideas, but there all based around each other. I've come up with the idea but not gone out and actually taken and started doing samples (Which is why i'm stil a little stuck). With the ideas i have know I will start to make samples and see which idea comes out with the best result. My ideas have changed a little since my last ones so i'll write them all up. Also, i'll be scanning in work from my notebook about this project.

I'm obsessed with you. This idea is to take the phrase 'I love you' and change it to 'I'm obsessed with you' and write it everywhere and take photos. This idea came from my view on how love and obsession can be very close; like love and hate. I'd write this on walls, floors anything really. Another idea was to write it on post it notes and stick them everywhere and take photos.

Post it notes. After thinking about them in my last idea I thought of all the other things i could write on them. Compliments or insults. Thoughts or feelings. One of my obsessions is writing i've discovered. I can't get enough of it. So my idea was to, when ever i have an interesting thought or feeling, i would write them down and stick it too whatever is next to me. I have a page in my notebook all about this so i will put that in here. Then i would make the photo black and white, except for the note which would stay in colour.

I had other passing ideas which i wrote down in my notebook so I will scan them and get them on here very soon.

Obsession - New Idea

Idea of a film?

Right....Now I'm stuck. After much thought I'm still stuck on an idea for this project. I've even started thinking about film, photography seems like my final plan then I see a video and want to do film. My idea around film is to tell a story through images. I'd go around town and other area's to find the words i need. I'll write down a scrip first and then take short 3 second films of the words then put them all together. I would then narrate over this. I want to film each word so the words aren't flat and it gives the film movement even though its just words and a narrator.

Thinking about this, I get the idea to do animation kinda. So instead of just finding the words, I'd right them down but do it through stop motion/animation. Again, to give this film movement i'd film the images and maybe use a range a materials. Or maybe where I right the words. On paper, walls, tables, hands. Hummm.

I will try both these out and see which one would be the best. FIRST I need to decide on an idea around what type of obsession I will film about.

Obsession - Idea Planning

Come on now, think of something

So far i have a couple of ideas in my head but i'm still unsure as to what i'm going to do.

I like the idea of being obsessed with a colour or number. Taking photos of it where ever i can find it. But, what will that number or colour be? 13 is an unlucky number, maybe that. I may take photos of numbers running up to 100 from all the places i can find them.

Colours, i could take photos of the same colour where ever i can find it.

Telling a story through pictures/words, for example, 'Welcome/2/the/book' All the words would be from different images.

Obsession with money, photos of prices.

Find a word! Decide on a word to photograph and try and find it around Nottingham and Leeds.

Happy.

Try to find happiness in the town, find emotions! Sad, angry, happy. Maybe? I'm still unsure. Bad words? Graffiti? Who knows. Taking photos of one thing is appealing but what? I'm still so unsure. Photos of happy families in shop windows, photos of women and men. Obsession with someone? Something?

Photos from the point of view of an animal. For some reason that popped into my head. I love animals. Town from the point of view of a pigeon. I could do this, i may get stood on in the process but could it work. I'll try it out and see what happens.

Obsession - Techniques

What other techniques?

There are a few different techniques i can use for this project so I shall list them all and then talk about which ones appeal to me.

All these techniques are interesting but with the time and skills i have i know i'll be able to make something great with photography. Film would be an amazing experience but i wouldn't know what to make, and when i did decide it may be too late. Stop motion would take a long time and again, without a solid theme yet i wouldn't know what to do with it. Animation is a big part of my life because of my interest in anime, but i don't believe i have the skills to do this yet. A flip book would take along time and is similar to animation so i may struggle with this if i try to do it. Motion graphics are videos which tell a story through images. I could make the images yes, but i don't believe i have the skills to put it all together as a video yet. However, motion graphics are something i love and i want to develop my skills to make one.

Obsession - Even more ideas

Still working on an idea

After the excitement of yesterday has calmed down i've decided i need to work on more then one idea. My first idea is good but its my first, so i need others to work with. So i went back to my list of what obsession is and started to come up with more ideas.

The ideas which really jumped out at me were 'words'. Photographing words i find in town, or photos of images found in town. Such as, women or happy families or even feet. I also got the idea of take photos of money, prices on clothes. Photos of clothes, from expensive to affordable. Also, taking photos of clothes all with the same colour. Words, images and colour are the main themes i'd want to work with.

Tell a story through pictures of words found in town and streets. Count from 1-100 of pictures of numbers from streets, buses and house. Again photography is the main technique i'm interested in and i'm sure i will work in this medium. However, i'll still research into other medias incase i find something I will like.
